WHAT IS BAPTISM?
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change. It’s a declaration of faith and desire to walk in the way of Jesus with the heart of Jesus. Lowering into the water symbolizes dying to your old life without God, and being raised out of the waters symbolizes waking to new life in Christ.
Of all the reasons to celebrate, there’s none greater than the new life and unity with Christ represented in Baptism. That’s why we come together as a community to joyfully remember and declare all God has done in and for us through Christ.
-Your new life in Christ. Throughout the history of the Christian Church, Baptism has been one of the most universally accepted practices, almost always connected with the beginning of the Christian life. It is a symbol of our being united with Christ in his death and resurrection, transforming from chaos to new life with God (Romans 6:3-4, 2 Corinthians 5:17).
-Your good standing with God. You are saved by grace through faith when you believe. Baptism washes that truth over you in a real and meaningful way (1 Peter 3:21, Romans 8:16).
-Baptism is a public declaration of who the leader is of your life. Baptism is an opportunity to publicly share your decision to make Jesus leader of your life. You won’t be perfect but you are seeking to follow Him in everything (Galatians 3:27, John 14:15).
If you are interested in being baptized, please register online and we will be in contact with you.
Note: At South Fellowship Church, we wait until our children are old enough to believe and understand the true meaning of Baptism. If you have a child that is expressing an interest in baptism, please contact our Pastor of Kids Ministry, Amy Palma at [email protected]
