True Christian love puts the needs of another before their own. Love does not demands its own needs, but works to meet the needs of the other person.
“Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ” (Eph. 5:21) (speaking to wives and husbands).
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs” (1 Cor. 13:4-5).
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others” (Phil. 2:3-4).
