But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Galatians 4:4-5

There’s a Mephibosheth in each of us. We all experience our own form of brokenness, wounding, and we each carry scars. Yet, every single person God created is invited to the King’s table.

When Jesus comes in the fullness of time, he comes as savior and redeems a place for us at God’s table. He secures a position for us in God’s royal family. This is the beauty of Mephibosheth‘s story because the King of the Universe has seen us with our wounds and he defies common cultural thought to lavish us with his mercy and grace.

God desperately wants us to know and receive his love – to give us a seat at his family table. If only we would fully accept. Today, practice receiving this lavish gift of grace by using this prayer from Galatians 4:7.

“ABBA, Father! Thank you I am no longer ________ but you have called me _______. You have taken me from __________ and invited me to_________.” Continue journaling your prayer and tell someone your Mephibosheth story this week.

For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. Romans 8:14-17
