Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. Revelation 12:3-4
Did you know there are dragons in the Bible? This isn’t the only place they show up in the Bible either. There are actually dragons all through the Old Testament, but they are particularly hard to see in our English translations. There are three Hebrew words that could be translated with our word dragon depending on the context. So yes, there are dragons in the Bible.
The Hebrew books of the Bible borrow some very common images and language to communicate something about God.
I could try to explain the biblical concept of dragons to you but I think this wonderful video from the Bible Project already does a better job than I could do here. Take a look at this video and it will help you see the dragons and what they represent.

Perhaps after watching this video, you may believe that the image of the dragon is there, but now you are asking, so what? This dragon that represents chaos and disorder is actually all around us. Every time someone or something causes destruction or disorder, it becomes the chaos dragon. Take a few moments to find the dragons in your world. Ask God to reveal any element in your own life that might be more dragon-like than you would like to admit. Ask Jesus to help you slay those dragons.
