Prodigal

In the scriptures, Jesus tells a story about a father and his sons. It captivated his first audience and, heard rightly, captures us today. In his story, a son insults his father and leaves his home behind. When he returns, destitute, his father humbles himself by running towards him. When his older brother sees the welcome he is given, he insults his father, too. Again, the father humbles himself and forgives.

For three weeks, we are immersing ourselves deeply into Jesus’ story of the Prodigal Son. It is one of Jesus’ great revelations of the love of his Father, a perfect father who goes infinitely further than we can imagine to tell his children, “You are loved.” Wherever you find yourself, this God reaches for you in love.
