The Sermon on the Mount is the first large piece of teaching in the New Testament. You might say it’s Jesus’ Kingdom Manifesto; his idea of what human flourishing looks like. It’s a difficult text and seems impossible to live up to at times, because it is! We can only do this through the Spirit-powered life Jesus asks us to live and by trusting that he knows better than us how to be human. As a community, we get to sit at Jesus’ feet, take seriously his ethical teaching, and ask how we can put it into practice through his way and his heart.
