John chapter 5 is very important to the rest of the book of John because it stands as the largest turning point in the story of John. It is in this chapter that Jesus makes a stand against the religious leaders that continues to escalate until Jesus’ death. As I read this chapter I am amazed by Jesus’ boldness. He stands before the religious leaders and boldly speaks very hard words to them.
I’m not like that. I struggling being bold with truth because I care about what people will think of me. I get intimidated by powerful people and often stumble over my words when that happens. I LOVE how confident and strong our Jesus is. He was not rude but he was strong and bold. I wonder if those guys had ever had anyone stand up to them. I really admire Jesus. That may sound like a given but It’s always good to feel it again.
