I’m starting a new teaching series tonight at theWELL. I’m really excited for it. The series is called Leverage: making life count for what counts most. We are going to spend this fall studying the book of 2 Corinthians. I think that to a person we all want to make a difference with our life, but often times we make decisions that prevent us from living that way. Tonight we are starting out this series by talking about the God of ALL comfort… who comforts us so that we would be a comfort to others. That’s where we are going to camp out tonight.

There is an old hymn/quote that resonated with me as I studied this week. It was written by a women who lived most of her life in pain and anguish, but somehow found a way to find comfort in the midst of her pain. She wrote:

He gives more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sends more strength when the labors increase;
To added affliction, He adds His mercy,
To multiplied trials His multiplied peace.

When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed and the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
Our Father’s full giving has only begun.

His love has no limit; His grace has no measure,
His power has no boundary known unto men,
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus,
He gives, and gives, and gives again.
