We are introducing this song next sunday at South Fellowship Church. I think this song should become one of our heart songs. The song is called “The Lord Our God.” It was drawn from the passage in scripture where God brought the Israelites out of Egypt. The people of God wouldn’t move without God’s guidance. During the day they would follow a pillar of clouds and at night they would follow a pillar of fire. When the pillar stayed, they stayed. When the pillar moved, they moved. The pillar represented God’s presence with them. They had seen the mighty hand of God deliver them from Egypt and they wanted to stay close to Him. He is unchanging even though they were going into the unknown. God was constant.

As South Fellowship seek to grow in our delight in Christ He will ask us to go into the unknown. He may ask us to walk into trials. Even if you don’t understand the things around you there is one UNCHANGING thing and that is God. But we don’t want to go into the unknown alone. In fact we don’t want to go anywhere without our God.

I love how this song declares the steadfastness of God. I can’t wait to learn this song together. I pray that we won’t just learn the melody but that we will learn the truth of it. I pray that we too could sing to “The Lord Our God” and find confidence to follow Him wherever He leads.
