Expectation vs. Reality
In the weeks leading up to Christmas, we find a tension between the hallmark picture of the season and our real lives. Why isn’t Christmas like it is in the movies? The truth is, Advent was meant to be a season that reflects the tensions of real life. It’s a season of waiting, hoping, and longing for change to come. Prior to the birth of Jesus, we find the people of God wondering where God is, begging for him to show up, and hoping they weren’t forgotten.
